RUSSIA’S ACCESSION TO THE WTO: PROS AND CONS

Abstract

Russia successfully completed in November 2011, negotiations on the accession of the Russian Federation to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The ratification of the protocol is given 220 days. At the expiration of this period, and the ratifi cation of Protocol (and two appendices: on tariff concessions and the list of services) to Russia in September 2012 became a full member of the global trade organization. Russia’s WTO membership is a prerequisite for entry into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. There are now more than 30 developed countries that produce two thirds of goods and services in the world. Negotiations on the accession of the organization could be completed in 2013.
